Project 2 : Decisive Moment Poster & Animation 

INSTRUCTION:

Week 6:

LECTURES：

Today the teacher talked about Project 2 - the decisive moment. In fact, we are required to read and research urban legends, create a poster with representative characteristics in the urban legends we studied, and animate the content on the poster as the final task. A representative feature means a scene that captures a turning point in the story—a major turning point in a movie or an event.

Week7: 

LECTURES：

• Today the teacher told us about composition theory. There are three main things about composition, foreground, middle ground and background. When these three elements are well utilized, drawn, and placed in the right places, they can do a great job of grabbing the viewer's attention.
• Foreground - the position closest to the viewer in the scene
• Zhongdi - in the middle of the three scenes
• Background - the point farthest from the viewer in the three scenes
• We can make different discharges by taking full advantage of contrast and size differences to highlight the key points we want to express.
• Good design processes, also known as good visual focus arrangements, draw the viewer's eye and allow the viewer's perspective to flow through the entire situation. Visuals influence how viewers interpret our work. So in order for us to understand better, the teacher specially played a video called "Soloist" to let us fully understand the arrangement of the background and camera angles.

The following is my understanding of the video：

In the first panel, the author sorts the heights of the characters and enlarges the background by reducing the proportions of the three sisters. Then he uses some larger panel pictures in the background to express the living environment of the three sisters and the starting factors for the development of the story. The author Through these phenomena, the development environment of the story is fully demonstrated to readers.

The author uses cold colors, lowers the brightness of the background, puts the character in the middle and puts a cold light on it, to express to the readers the desolation and grief of the three sisters who lost one of them.

In the last part of the content, the author focuses the spotlight on the central position of the vision, which happens to be the position of the protagonist. He deliberately enlarges the subject character so that the viewer can better understand what the author wants to express.

Apply textures to designs:

Today the teacher taught us how to use the distortion function in Adobe Illustrator to use various textures to make our works full of more textures and gradient effects. We also learned how to use gradients in our designs. To do this, I did a small exercise, that is, applying textures and gradients to a character given to us by the teacher. The following is the result of my exercise.

• This week the teacher taught us what limited gifs are, the concepts of secondary animation and how to use them, allowing me to understand the main details of overlapping actions, secondary animation and excessive animation.
• Auxiliary animation is any additional animation that emphasizes the main action and creates more different dimensions that don't overlap with the next scene. They are often added to a scene to emphasize the overall dynamics and movement of things. 

The assignment assigned by the teacher this time is for us to create a gif animation for our own urban legend poster.

Project 2 - Decisive Moment Poster & Animation

Research

When the teacher asked us to make a poster about urban rumors, the first thing I thought of was the Hello Kitty corpse case that shocked the whole of Hong Kong, so I searched and investigated on the Internet.

The whole incident is probably the Hello Kitty Hidden Body Case refers to a dismemberment case revealed in Hong Kong on May 26, 1999. In the case, the 23-year-old female victim Fan Minyi abandoned her and her son because her husband owed money and ran away. Her creditor and the creditor's friends were forced to go there. Doing some illegal things, the deceased ran away to his hometown, but was eventually found by the creditor and others. After finding the deceased, they imprisoned him in Unit 3B of a tenement building at 31 Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, and suffered repeated abuse. He died from his injuries. After his death, he was dismembered and cooked, and his head and limbs were stuffed into a mermaid-shaped Hello Kitty.

After that, I went to the internet, watched some videos of decisive moments, and drafted a mind map so that I could help my sketches later.
